Billi & Ed’s Surfleet Church Wedding - Vintage Land Rovers, a Boat Ride and a Weather Witch
Billi and Ed’s wedding had a bit of everything.
A house full of positive energy, vintage Land Rovers, a beautiful church ceremony, an impressively long confetti tunnel, a boat arrival, a packed dance floor, and a weather witch.
More on that shortly.
Billi and Ed got married on 6th June 2026 at St Laurence’s Church in Surfleet, Lincolnshire. From the moment I arrived at Billi’s family home for the morning preparations, I knew it was going to be a brilliant day.
The house was filled with music, laughter, champers and a close group of friends getting ready together. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, including the family dog, who eventually warmed to me despite apparently not being the biggest fan of men.
I will take that as a win.

Once hair and makeup were finished, it was time for Billi to put on her dress. There were a few attempts at lining up the bridal buttons, but once everything was in place, she looked incredible.
The room also had a low-hanging light fitting that had claimed its fair share of bumps throughout the morning, mainly from Billi’s mum. By that point, it had become such a running joke that it felt only right to include it in a few photographs.
Once Billi was ready, her dad came in for the first look, followed by the bridesmaids. Their reactions said everything, with dropped jaws, huge smiles and plenty of excitement.
Two vintage Land Rovers then transported Billi and the bridal party to St Laurence’s Church, where Ed was greeting guests outside with plenty of hugs and laughter.
He waited until the final moment to turn around as Billi walked down the aisle. When he eventually saw her, the smile on his face said it all.
The ceremony was warm and relaxed, with hymns, prayers and plenty of happy faces. Before long, Billi and Ed were officially married and walking back out of the church to cheers from their guests.
Then came one of the longest confetti tunnels I have ever arranged. It felt like I was walking backwards forever, but the longer the tunnel, the more time there is to capture it, so I was not complaining.
Now, we need to talk about the weather.
The forecast had promised grey skies and rain, so Billi decided to take matters into her own hands and paid a witch online to cast a spell for better weather.
Somehow, it worked.
The rain stayed away, the clouds cleared and we even had moments of sunshine throughout the afternoon. It quickly became one of the running jokes of the day, although after seeing the results, I am not entirely convinced it was a joke.
Rather than simply walking into the reception, Billi and Ed arrived by boat. Their guests gathered by the water to welcome them, cheering as they stepped onto the dock and made their way towards the marquee.
The space had been beautifully decorated with thoughtful details that made everything feel completely personal to them.
We kept the group photographs organised and relaxed, leaving plenty of time for everyone to enjoy the afternoon. Billi and Ed did not want to disappear for a long, or have a heavily posed portrait session either, so we took a short wander and captured a few natural moments away from the crowd.
You do not need hours of posing to create beautiful wedding photographs. A little time, a few gentle prompts and the space to enjoy being together is often all it takes.
The speeches brought a lovely mixture of meaningful words, laughter and a few emotional moments. From there, the evening seemed to fly by, with plenty of photographs involving the guests, bridal party and anyone else who fancied stepping in front of the camera.
When the live band started, complete with sax and drums, the dance floor quickly filled up. Everyone fully committed to the evening celebrations, which made for the perfect ending to the day.
Billi and Ed’s wedding in Surfleet was relaxed, personal and filled with brilliant energy from beginning to end.
There was laughter, beautiful weather, an unforgettable entrance and a dance floor that did not disappoint.
And, of course, a weather witch who absolutely delivered.
Billi and Ed, thank you for trusting me to photograph such a special day. It was a genuine pleasure to celebrate with you, your families and everyone who made it such a memorable Lincolnshire wedding.
As a Lincolnshire wedding photographer, I love documenting relaxed celebrations in Surfleet and across the UK, capturing the genuine moments without turning the day into one long photoshoot.
