Imogen & Matt’s Relaxed Lincoln Wedding
Imogen and Matt’s wedding took place on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon in the heart of Lincoln, beginning with an intimate ceremony at the beautiful Usher Gallery.
Located in Lincoln city centre, just below the Cathedral Quarter, the gallery provided such a unique setting for their wedding day. I arrived to find Matt greeting friends and family while patiently waiting for his bride-to-be. He was understandably nervous, but still incredibly chatty and smiley, mostly focused on making sure everything was perfect for Imogen’s arrival.
The ceremony room at the Usher Gallery was surrounded by artwork, creating a relaxed and intimate atmosphere. Once Imogen had arrived with her maid of honour and spoken with the registrars, it was time for her to make her entrance.
it was simply a celebration that felt completely true to the two of them.
As she began walking down the aisle, I gave Matt a little nod to let him know it was time to turn around. The moment he saw her, his smile went from ear to ear.
The ceremony was full of happy faces, laughter and one small correction when Matt discovered that “lawfully wedded wife” wasn’t quite the line he was supposed to say at that particular moment. He quickly recovered, and it only added another memorable moment to an already lovely ceremony.
Afterwards, we explored the Usher Gallery for some relaxed wedding portraits, making the most of the artwork, sweeping staircases and beautiful architecture. It was a brilliant location for photographs and gave Imogen and Matt plenty of variety without needing to travel anywhere else.
From there, everyone made their way up Lincoln’s famously steep hill towards the reception at the Blue Room.
The venue was filled with beautiful natural light, with a pianist playing the grand piano on the stage as everyone settled in. The whole afternoon had an incredibly relaxed feeling, which suited Imogen and Matt perfectly.
We later took a short walk through Lincoln city centre to the nearby Hidden Garden. This peaceful community space, filled with greenery and interesting little structures, gave us a completely different backdrop for their wedding photographs. It also gave the two of them a few quiet moments together away from the celebrations.
Back at the reception, Olé Olé served a brilliant selection of tapas while everyone relaxed, chatted and enjoyed a few glasses of Imogen and Matt’s favourite cider.
It was a wonderfully chilled Lincoln wedding filled with great food, lovely company and beautiful weather. Nothing felt rushed or overly formal, it was simply a celebration that felt completely true to the two of them.
Thank you again, Imogen and Matt, for trusting me to photograph such a special day. It was an absolute pleasure to be there and document it all.
As a Lincolnshire wedding photographer, I always enjoy photographing celebrations in Lincoln. With its historic architecture, hidden gardens and characterful venues, there are so many brilliant opportunities for relaxed and natural wedding photography.
